Dongfeng BOX launched in Malaysia - From RM100k

KUALA LUMPUR:  The Dongfeng BOX, an all-electric compact vehicle from Dongfeng Motor, is now officially available in Malaysia.

Following its preview in August 2024, the EV has been introduced by Central Auto Distributors Bhd (CADB), a subsidiary of PEKEMA.

This launch adds another option to Malaysia’s growing range of EVs, catering to urban mobility with practicality and innovation.

Offered at a starting price of RM100,700, the Dongfeng BOX enters the compact EV market with modern styling, a roomy interior, and a focus on reliable electric technology.

PEKEMA President Datuk Hj Mohamed Nazari Bin Noordin described the car as “a testament to our commitment to advancing sustainable mobility in Malaysia,” highlighting its balance of affordability and eco-conscious design.

Two Variants for Different Needs

The Dongfeng BOX is available in two variants:

• Dongfeng BOX E2: RM100,700
• Dongfeng BOX E3: RM113,700

Buyers can choose from vibrant colours such as White, Purple, Green, and Blue. Both variants come with a warranty package that includes an 8-year/150,000 km high-voltage battery warranty and a 5-year/150,000 km main vehicle parts warranty.

Performance and Charging Capabilities

Powered by the Mach E 10-in-1 high energy efficiency system, the Dongfeng BOX delivers 95PS of power and 160 Nm of torque. The E3 variant boasts a range of 430 km on a single charge, making it suitable for longer journeys. Fast charging capabilities allow a 30–80% charge in just 30 minutes, adding convenience for EV users.

Safety and Connectivity

The Dongfeng BOX emphasizes driver safety with features like Adaptive Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), automatic emergency braking, and intelligent cruise control. Inside, the spacious cabin is equipped with a large infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto for seamless connectivity.

Supporting Malaysia’s EV Ecosystem

At the launch, Dato' SM Zulkifli Bin SM Amin, Operations Director of CADB, stressed the car’s role in accelerating Malaysia’s EV transition: "The Dongfeng BOX is more than just a vehicle; it represents a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency for Malaysian businesses."

CADB is strengthening its after-sales support network with 16 authorized dealers nationwide and two experience centers in Klang Valley.

Partnerships and Future Plans

The introduction of the Dongfeng BOX is part of a broader partnership between PEKEMA and Dongfeng Motor, formalized in 2023.

This collaboration positions CADB as the exclusive importer and distributor of Dongfeng passenger vehicles in Malaysia, leveraging PEKEMA’s expertise and network.

As Malaysia continues its push towards sustainable transportation, the launch of the Dongfeng BOX underscores the growing availability of EV options, combining innovation with accessibility for urban drivers.
