Classic Porsche now gets Apple CarPlay & Android Auto head units; from RM 12k

KUALA LUMPUR: It was only recently that the official distributor of Porsche cars in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Performance inaugurated the new Porsche Centre Johor Bahru. The event also collaborated with the launch of the all-new 718 Cayman GT4 RS.

The new Porsche Centre Johor Bahru unlike other Porsche dealerships has a lot to offer, bringing several first of its kind on the table. The list includes -

• Being the first Porsche 4S Centre in Malaysia
• Houses the sole Porsche-certified Body & Paint workshop with custom-made spray booths and filtration & ventilation systems
• It is the first Porsche Certified Classic Partner in Malaysia which offers genuine Porsche spare parts and even helps procure spare parts for out-of-production classic cars
• A restored Porsche 911 along with many classic Porsche parts

What however caught our attention was the presence of the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) systems. The PCCM system here is offered in two versions namely, the PCCM and PCCM Plus. Both the PCCM and PCCM Plus are high-res touchscreen head units showcasing a classic design with buttons and rotary knobs. The best part is their systems feature new functions that were previously not available in the production units.

Let us get to know the PCCM systems in detail -

PCCM: This one is a 3.5-inch single-din head-unit with smaller radio slots along with Apple CarPlay connectivity and Digital Audio Broadcasting. It also comes with 2D & 3D navigation displays, iPhone interfaces, Bluetooth connectivity, along with USB and AUX compatibility. Traffic info is present in Traffic Message Channel (TMC). The said system is good to fit all Porsche models from all 911 models (from F series to 993 generation models), Porsche 959, 924, 944, 928, and 968 models. Missing out is the Porsche Carrera GT and 356. The PCCM system retails for RM 11,749.

PCCM Plus: This one is a 7-inch double-din head unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Like the PCCM, it also gets TCM, AUX, iPhone interfaces, and Bluetooth connectivity. The system is compatible with 1997-2005 Porsche 996 and 986-generation Porsche cars. The PCCM Plus system retails for RM13,001.
