CKD assembly begins for Borgward BX5 SUV
KUALA LUMPUR: It was in April last year when we first saw the Borgward BX5 as a left-hand drive model. Back then it was said to launch in Malaysia in September 2018. The SUV did not arrive as scheduled, and as per the officials, it was because the SUV was in the process of obtaining all the necessary government approvals. According to a recent Facebook post on the company’s official social media handle, we’ll soon get a locally-assembled unit, deliveries of which will begin in Q4 of 2019.
Semi-automated assembly test runs for the car has already begun, as per the said Facebook post. In the Malaysian market, the BX5 will be offered in three variant options, namely Luxury, Fashion, and Special Edition.
