Citroen tiny Ami One electric car is for the 14-year olds
KUALA LUMPUR: Citroen Ami One concept car was showcased last year in the Geneva Motor show and now finally the production version has been unveiled.
At the face of it, we say that Ami One is a car, but owing to its size and measurement classed as a quadricycle. That means it can be driven by anyone over the age of 14 in France and 16-years old for the rest of Europe, necessarily with a provisional license. Besides the outright selling of the car, the automaker also plans to rent this car like other electric vehicles, for a minimal charge.
Citroen says that Ami One is a 100 percent electric car with no competitor near to its styling and design. Though it looks much similar to the Renault Twizy 45, but there is no equivalent model likes this mobility solution. One amazing thing about this tiny Ami One is it offers greater protection as compared to two or three wheeled vehicles and also greater comfort and independence. It looks strikingly pretty and comfortable.
Ami One is designed to be lightweight and simple. It has a 5.5kWh battery which can keep it alive up to 70km and takes only 3 hours to fully charge, provided you have a 220V plug. The car weighs just 485kg, owing to its lighter battery and other hardware.it is interesting to note that Citroen has emphasized on simplicity and style and we can say that looking at the symmetrical doors and bumpers. Even the underbody of the car has minimalist panels.
The only downside is found at the interior of the car, with no proper infotainment system, you need to carry your phone and Bluetooth speaker in case you want to listen to music. Most ubiquitous features have been cut down in the tiny car.
If you wish to buy this car outright, you need to spend EUR 6,000. If buying is not an option for you, renting can be. The company is also planning to offer different rental packages for the car. One-year rental plan will cost EUR 19.99 per month with a cap on the distance to 10,000km per year on mileage.
Citroen is also planning to collaborate with Free2Move to offer monthly, daily, and hourly rentals package. It even has a pay-by-the-minute plan which costs EUR 0.26 per minute. So now, you can have a hands-on this pretty and cute Ami One car at a minimalist cost
Pre-orders for the Ami are set to open on March 30th in France, followed by Spain, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, and then Germany. Citroen is planning to start the first lot of deliveries in France starting from June.
