Citroen C5 Aircross SUV facelifted for 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: It has been five years since the debut of Citroen’s five-seater SUV and now we hear that it received a facelift for 2022 that includes styling and feature update.

So, let’s get to know the 2022 Citroen C5 Aircross in detail, starting with the styling revisions.

The front fascia now features a more integrated lighting setup. A pair of fitted lines coming from the DLRs located within the headlamps meet the double chevron logo in the centre that’s finished in black with chrome trim. The bumper is redesigned and we now see lower air vents, all giving the illusion of it being a wider car.

On the side, the previous-gen square air vents are replaced by vertical pieces. They even enhance the aero by boosting the airflow. Also evident are new 18-inch wheels, glossy black ORVMs, and matte roof rails.

At the rear, visual changes are difficult to find with the tail lamp size remaining unchanged, however, the units feature different housing and new LED graphics.

Open the doors and you will see a revised interior that now features a redesigned centre console with a freestanding infotainment display. The air vents are now lowered to make room for the 10-inch display. However, the 12.3-inch digital instrument panel appears to remain unchanged. While the previous-gen shiny gear selector is now replaced by a small switch, Citroen offers separate controls for climate settings.

The list of updates also includes -

• A new driving mode selector (Hybrid, Sport, Electric)
• Second USB port
• Extra storage compartment
• Heated and massaging front seats
• Seats with additional 15 mm foam (for improved comfort)
• Alcantara & perforated leather upholstery options
• Multi-functional steering with a new three-spoke design

In terms of engine configuration, Citroen is yet to reveal the changes, however, there is a possibility of the setup being carried over as it is. The Europe-spec Citroen C5 Aircross is offered in petrol and diesel engines, all meeting the Euro 6.2 emission standards.

The facelifted C5 Aircross will go on sale in Europe in early June and is expected to be as successful as its predecessor.
