China gets a new Honda HR-V; check the details

KUALA LUMPUR: The HR-V nameplate is one of Honda’s most popular and successful products and that’s the reason why the brand continues to use it. Different markets have different versions of the HR-V, the latest version being revealed in China by Dongfeng Honda.

The car in the above images is a China-specific model and is a sibling to Guangqi Honda’s ZR-V. It is different from the 3rd gen crossover which is popular in most countries, including ours.

Let’s get to know the China-specific HR-V

Dimensions: The Dongfeng HR-V is more or less the same size as the GAC ZR-V. The car measures 4,569 mm in length, 1,621 mm in height, and its wheelbase stretches to 2,655 mm.

Exterior design: In terms of the design language, the Dongfeng HR-V showcases a distinguishing front that sets it apart from the GAV version. Part of the car’s exterior specs are -

• A large upright grille
• Front bumper with slim intakes at the corners
• Unique headlamps with LED running lights (extending to grille via illuminated strip)
• Black trim in side-lower section
• Full-width tail light clusters
• Prominent reflectors
• Dual trapezoidal-shaped tailpipes

Interior: No images of the cabin are provided, however, it is expected to be carried over from its siblings. Small revisions are expected to come along with trim and color combinations.

Powertrain: Technical specifications of the new China-spec HR-V are undercover, however, the SUV is confirmed to come equipped with a hybrid mill, so, an e:HEV badge. The latter is most likely to be powered by a 2.0-liter engine and Honda’s i-MMD tech; the mill generates 143 PS and the e-motor makes 184 PS. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine is also on the cards.
