Chevrolet plans to wind down Corvette C7 in Europe
KUALA LUMPUR: Chevrolet has taken a step forward to wrap up the Corvette C7 lineup in Europe. Also, the manufacturer has failed to keep the arrival of the mid-engined C8 Corvette a secret. As the company will soon discontinue the Corvette C7, we can expect that the C8 to arrive soon.
As for now, Chevrolet has introduced a brand-new C7 Corvette Final Edition. It is available in two different variants - the Grand Sport and Z06. These two will only go on sale in Europe and might be the last front-engined Corvette we see.
The Corvette C7 Grand Sport is equipped with a 6.2-litre V8 engine that can make 460 hp of power. On the other hand, the Corvette Z06 comes with the same engine under the hood but can produce a maximum power of 650 hp. The power is channelled to the wheels via a seven-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the Grand Sport comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox option.
The European-spec C7 Corvette Final Edition will get either Ceramic Matrix Gray or Sebring Orange Tintcoat paint job. As mentioned, the C7 Final Edition will be available in coupe body type for both Grand Sport and Z06 trims. These two trims will come with a lot of visual and performance-enhancing features.
The performance kit consists of a Performance Data Recorder, carbon-ceramic brakes, side skirts, and an aerodynamic package with a carbon-fibre front splitter. The Z07 package includes black 10-spoke wheels that are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and additional aero elements. Moreover, there is black Nappa leather upholstery with contrast stitching, competition sports seats, and carbon-fibre accents inside. The Grand Sport Final Edition gets black fender with the “Final Edition” moniker.
These two Final Edition C7 variants will not be revealed by Chevrolet Malaysia as company's plan for the car's rollout differs from market to market.
