Chevrolet unveils C8 Corvette Stingray Convertible
There is a new addition to the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as a convertible variant. It comes with a power-folding roof and for that the price of the car increases by RM 31,447 (USD 7,500) than the standard version that has a manually removable roof. The coupe carries a price tag of RM 251,559 (USD 59,995).
The entire rear deck comes with a new design so that the two-piece roof can have the required place to accommodate. It is further incorporated with the power-adjustable glass air deflector and rollover protection cowls. It is the vented bonnet that replaces the glass engine cover.
As per the manufacturer’s words, the roof can be operated up to 48 kmph speed with six electric motors. The later ones can deploy or retract the roof in just 16 seconds. Compared to the coupe, the convertible provides much more storage space. The roof has the body-coloured paint, while there is an option to upgrade it to the Carbon Flash metallic paint.
Speaking of the powertrain, it comes with a similar one like the coupe. It has a mid-mounted LT2 6.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine under the hood, which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 495 hp along with a peak torque of 637 Nm. It is the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
Chevrolet has informed that the convertible version’s production will start from the Q1 of 2020 at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly, while the coupe production will start later this year. The former will be available with a right-hand drive version in selected markets. However, these will arrive at a later date.
A few months ago, Chevrolet revealed newTrailblazer, which is expected to hit the markets in 2021, nearly 20 years after its debut. The new version is a compact SUV, which looks like a smaller variant of the Blazer SUV.
