Chery showcases record-breaking global sales in 2022

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery delivered a total of 1,232,727 units globally in 2022, with December being a big contributor with 105,483 units at its disposal. Thus, representing a 28.2% hike over 2021 and making the automaker's first one-million sales.

In addition, the sales figure for 2022 also includes export sales which account for 35.6% at 451,337 units. Overall last year's sales have helped Chery attain the top Chinese passenger car exporter tag for the 20th year in a row!

Talking about Chery’s export, two models that helped the brand attain such high figures were the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8; both of which made their international debut in many countries last year. Also, over the course of the last four months of 2022, Chery’s exports exceeded the 50,000 unit mark. Also, it accounts for a fifth of the total export volume of Chinese automakers.

Over the past few years, Chery has been taking great efforts to enhance its market presence and stature as a brand. How? Firstly, by establishing a new '‘technological innovation factory’’ that under looks the development of new products. Also, by the end of the year, Chery had applied for a total of 25,795 patents, 17,177 of which were granted and 37% of which were for innovation.

Not to forget the many open collaborations it did last year via forming alliances with the likes of CATL, Haier, Huawei, and Horizon Robotics. All this was done to research the fields of the internet, traction battery systems, and intelligent solutions.

As for the year 2023, though the brand has not given an actual target figure, it will continue to strive to maintain growth.

In 2023, Chery will establish a strong dealership network with over 30 outlets planned across the country. Phase one of the product launch includes models like the Tiggo 8 Pro and Omoda 5 along with the Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 4 Pro.

In the future, Chery is also planning an assembly plant which will be a part of its massive ASEAN region investment plan.
