Chery Omoda 5 earns a 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP

KUALA LUMPUR: Good news for the Chinese automaker, Chery, as its Omoda 5 SUV has secured the prestigious 5-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. This achievement is surely a testament to Chery’s efforts to enhance vehicle safety standards and compete in the global automotive market.

The car scored 86.54 out of 100 points, reflecting its strong performance across multiple safety categories, including adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, safety assist technologies, and motorcyclist safety.

The above-mentioned features contribute to its high marks in adult and child protection, where it achieved scores of 34.88 and 17.57 out of 36, respectively.

Chery Omoda 5 in Malaysia

Chery Malaysia is offered in two variant options namely, the C and top-spec H, priced at RM 108,800 and RM 118,800 respectively. Powering the two trims is a 1.5-litre TCI mill making a maximum power of 156 hp along with a peak torque of 230 Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT with nine virtual ratios.
