KUALA LUMPUR: The third-gen Volvo S60 has finally arrived in the Malaysian market after around 16 months of its official debut. A sole R-Design T8 Twin Engine variant will be offered to the Malaysian customers, and for now, the units will be CBU, fully imported. Moreover, there will be a total of five color options, including Pebble Grey, Onyx Black, Birch Light, Crystal White, and Fusion Red.
Speaking of its exterior, the R-Design trim of new Volvo S60 comes with an aggressive front bumper, which has larger lower intake and black-bordered fog light enclosures. The black treatment is also given on the mesh insert of the grille, which features a silver surround. Apart from these, some common Volvo things such as Thor’s Hammer styled LED DRLs, and E-3 styled LED taillights are also found as the part of the exterior.
Inside the cabin, a portrait-oriented large 9.0-inch touchscreen enclosed by vertical air vents is found. The touchscreen is linked to an infotainment system along with a Harman Kardon 14-speaker sound system. A 12.3-inch digital touchscreen cluster and R-Design three-spoke steering wheel are also there besides the primary screen. The centre console found familiar and comes with the engine start switch, gear lever, drive mode selector, electronic parking brake switch, and auto hold button.
As mentioned above, the Malaysian customers will get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Drive-E supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine. The engine churns out a maximum power of 320 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The 2019 S60 spec-sheet also includes an Aisin-sourced eight-speed AW TG-81SD automatic transmission and a CISG (crankshaft-integrated starter/generator). To drive the rear wheels, there is an electric motor that pushes out a maximum power of 87 hp and a peak torque of 240 Nm. The 2019 Volvo S60 can achieve the famous sprint of 0-100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds and hit the top speed of 250 kmph.
The safety features of the all-new S60 include City Safety, Pilot Assist, six airbags, and more. The car is priced at RM 295,888 on the road, excluding insurance.
