    Shelby GT500 Code Red launched

On the arrival of the Shelby GT500 Code Red company CEO, Joe Conway said, “Shelby American has built experimental versions of the Shelby GT500 since the model was launched in 1967. While these testbeds for innovation never became production cars, they helped make our vehicles better. For the first time in our 60-year history, we’re turning an experimental car into a limited-edition vehicle.”

Let us get to know the new Shelby Mustang GT500 Code Red in detail -

    Engine

    GT500 Code Red engine

One of the GT500 Code Red’s key highlights is its powertrain. Powering the muscle car is a massive 5.8-litre V8 twin-turbo mill on E85 ethanol fuel that generates a maximum power of 1,300hp along with a peak torque of 1,365 Nm. On octane fuel, on the other hand, the engine pumps out 1,000 hp and 1,058 Nm of torque. For comparison, in the standard model, the powertrain makes 760 hp of power and 847 Nm of torque.

The powertrain benefits from several new upgrades that are prime contributors to the hike the power and torque figures enjoy. Included in the list is a new engine management system, higher-flow fuel system, larger intercoolers, custom pistons, larger diameter exhaust pipings, and many more.

    Braking & Handling

Enabling the powertrain to withstand the enormous spike in output are gears like - an aftermarket differential (for better traction), and an aluminium one-piece drive shaft. The car also features a traction control system with nine settings and an anti-lag system.

The car also gets a set of Eibach adjustable suspension that gives it a menacing stance.

    Exterior design

    GT500 Code Red’s feature

The GT500 Code Red is quite an attractive offering by the automaker and showcases several features that differentiate it from the standard model. Part of the car’s exterior design kit is - a Shelby widebody package, wide usage of carbon fibre (on front hood & front and rear diffuser), and 20-inch Shelby forged aluminium wheels with 305/30R20 Pirelli P Zero tyres at the front and 345/30R20 Nitto drag units on the rear.

    Interior

    GT500 Code Red’s cabin

On the inside, the muscle car gets its fair share of revisions that make it look super stunning and intriguing. Part of the cabin is special leather upholstery, embroidered floor mats, and plaque with serial numbers on the dashboard and door sills. The cabin space has been increased thanks to the replacement of the rear seats with a harness bar.
