Check out the first official look of the next-gen Ford F-150 pick-up

KUALA LUMPUR: The Detroit automaker has given a full makeover to its best-selling pick-up truck, F-150, whose worldwide premiere will happen a week from today. The 2021 Ford F-150 was initially slated to debut in the spring of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly changed schedules not just for Ford, but for every automaker across the globe. 

The first teaser image of the redesigned pick-up truck has recently surfaced on the company’s official website. While the dark picture doesn’t show a clear view of new F-150, it does reveal its C-shaped LEDs daytime running lights surrounding the sides and top of the headlights, and a smaller strip for the fog lights.

Besides this official look, we have seen the new F-150 in several spy shots disclosing its exterior and interior design. According to that, the truck will have a more squared-off body and a bulging hood, but overall looks will be similar to the current vehicle. In the middle, there will be different grille designs depending on the trim level, and at the rear, new taillights, and a revised tailgate are provided.

Coming to the expected changes of the cabin, the F-150 would have a larger infotainment system and digital instrument cluster. The evolutionary steering wheel and new switchgear are also expected to be there. Moreover, the automaker has updated the truck with higher quality materials and improved designing elements. 

Under the bonnet, the entry-level variant may house a naturally aspirated 3.3-litre V6 engine, producing 294 PS of power. The higher trims are likely to carry a 2.7-litre EcoBoost V6 unit making 329 PS, 3.5-litre EcoBoost mill good for 380 PS, or the 5.0-litre V8 engine pumping out 400 PS. Furthermore, a hybrid and an electric version are also rumored to be included later on. 

Though, nothing is confirmed unless the Ford officially reveals the new F-150. The live streaming event for the big unveiling is scheduled for June 25, at 8:00 PM EDT.
