Check out the 2020 Audi A4; more than a visual treat
KUALA LUMPUR: It was in May 2019 that Audi’s A4 nameplate celebrated its 25th anniversary. Giving you a bit of a flashback, the Audi A4 was introduced as a direct successor of the Audi 80 series in 1994 and in the following years it quickly climbed its way to the top, becoming the brand’s top performer of all times.
Over the years the nameplate evolved, it got the most notable changes both on the visual and cabin comfort & convenience front.
Its biggest competition hails from Germany, the new BMW 3 Series and of course the Mercedes-Benz C-Class that grabs a significant sales share in Malaysia. However, Audi is not far behind in responding to its rivals with its quick model revisions and new offerings; the brand maintains CBU only status.
Under the hood configuration will include three 2.0-litre TFSI petrol mill all getting a 12-volt hybrid system, together their power output range between 150 bhp to 244 bhp. The S4 will be powered by a 3.0-litre TDI engine that’s mated to a 48-volt hybrid system that offers a maximum power of 347 bhp along with a peak torque of 700 Nm. The S4 model will compete against the popular Mercedes-AMG C43.
The mill will be coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with sports differential and Quattro all-wheel-drive. On offer is also a variable damping suspension. The car is expected to drink high-quality diesel only, something that Malaysia currently lacks and might prevent the car’s arrival here.
