Check out 2020 Honda City's latest teaser
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia is all set to introduce the 2020 Honda City in the country. The automaker is teasing the upcoming sedan for a while now, with its latest bit recently uploaded on Honda's official Facebook channel. The twelve-second long video like the earlier teaser image focuses on the car's sleek and ultra-stylish headlights. Only this time, it further stiffens the word war with the competitors, Toyota Vios, to be specific.
Those who are not aware, Honda, with new City's posts is challenging or rather teasing the competitors. For example, it's 30th July post read 'Time to expose the pretenders' to which Toyota replied 'Time is never a factor, when one is timeless'. As a reply to Toyota, Honda put up its latest teaser video with the text 'The difference is glaring, the competition still can't be seen". To be frank, this entire Honda-Toyota rift reminds us of the famous BMW and Mercedes-Benz episode. If you aren't aware, go check it out on the internet and see how far the car companies can go in such playful battles.
As for the 2020 Honda City specifications, we don't have any information in hand, and that's why we are taking hints from our neighbors. For example, in Thailand, the City is offered with only one engine option - a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit making a maximum power of 122 PS and a peak torque of 173 Nm. Compared to the ongoing version that is powered by a 1.5-litre mill (120 PS and 145 Nm), its former makes more power and torque.
In India, Honda offers the new 5th-gen City with two engine options - a 1.5-litre i-VTEC DOHC with VTC making 121 PS and 145 Nm and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC DOHC diesel mill producing 100 PS and 200 Nm. The petrol mill comes with an option of a 7-speed CVT and 6-speed manual, while the diesel option only gets the later.
Besides, like the Indian-spec 2020 City, we want the Malaysia-spec model to also benefit from the Honda LaneWatch System. Until now, this system was restricted to up-scale models like Accord and Civic, and it's the first time City features it.
We expect the 2020 City to come with the following features -
- Alexa Remote Capability
- Next-gen Honda Connect with Telematics Control Unit
- 20.3 cm Advanced Touchscreen Display Audio
- Smartphone Connectivity
- Voice Command Support
- Premium Surround Sound System
- Steering Mounted Voice Recognition
- Honda Smart Key System with Keyless Remote
- Follow-Me-Home/Lead-Me-To-Car Headlights
- Fully Automatic Climate Control with MAX COOL mode
- Dust & Pollen Cabin Filter
- Driver Seat Height Adjuster
- 15- and 16-inch alloy wheels
- Leather upholstery
- RS bodykit
- 8-inch Touchscreen Display Audio System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
Once launched, the all-new 2020 Honda City will compete with the likes of Toyota Vios, Mazda 2 Sedan, and Nissan Almera.
More information about the upcoming City will be revealed in the days to come, so stay tuned with Honda Malaysia for all the latest updates.
