BYD Seal 06 GT breaks cover at Chengdu Auto Show in China

KUALA LUMPUR: After giving a sneak peek last week, BYD has now fully revealed the Seal 06 GT at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show. The latest BYD EV is based on the Ocean-M concept and offers an amazing blend of advanced technology and sporty performance.

The Seal 06 GT is BYD’s first high-performance electric hatchback, built on the new e-platform 3.0 Evo architecture, which can also be found under the Sealion 7 SUV. The said platform “creates more than 13 world-first hard-core technologies to enjoy high-value new energy travel experience,” says BYD. It comes with faster electric motors and offers an enhanced charging speed with the hi-tech 800-Volt architecture.

The EV is offered in both single and dual-motor drivetrain options. There are two power options available with the single motor variant - the lower-spec delivers 217 PS and 310 Nm while the higher-spec is tuned to produce 224 PS and 330 Nm. The dual-motor trim, on the other hand, gets a 150 PS front motor and a 272 PS rear motor; this setup propels the EV from a standstill to 100 kmph in 4.9 seconds only.

Speaking of the battery packs and range, the Seal 06 GT comes in two battery options - 59.52 kWh or 72.96 kWh offering CLTC-claimed driving ranges of 505 km, 605 km, and 550 km, depending on the variant. 

Dimension-wise, the EV measures 4630 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1490 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2820 mm. It is positioned between the Dolphin hatchback and Seal sedan in the brand’s lineup. 

The EV boasts a sleek and sporty design with a sculpted hood and a dynamic lower grille that integrates a radar system for advanced driver assistance. The side profile emphasises the vehicle’s sporty character while the rear offers it a distinctive appearance with a striking full-width taillight design and a prominent diffuser.

Hop inside the new BYD electric hatchback and you will be greeted by a modern, tech-savvy cabin featuring a high-end DiLink 100 intelligent cockpit system. The EV is packed with several creature comforts, including a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch adaptive infotainment screen, wireless charging, and a 12-inch head-up display. Two available interior colour options are Shell White and Twilight Blue.

The BYD Seal 06 GT price in China ranges between CNY 150,000 (RM 91,622) to CNY 200,000 (RM 122,147). The deliveries are expected to begin later this month.
