While the teaser did not reveal the name of the upcoming BYD EV, it is said to be the M6 electric MPV.

The BYD M6 features three rows of seating, accommodating either six or seven passengers.During a recent media event in China, BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division General Manager, Liu Xueliang, confirmed that the M6 will be coming to Malaysia soon. Furthermore, the family-themed teaser confirms the arrival of the minivan.
The BYD M6 made its global debut at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show in July, followed by its launch in Thailand last month. It is a three-row electric MPV, which is offered in six and seven-seater versions in Indonesia and only a six-seater layout in the Land of Smiles. However, It remains to be seen what form of seating configuration will be offered in Malaysia.
In terms of dimensions, the BYD M6 measures 4,710 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height. The wheelbase is estimated at 2,800 mm.
The design of the upcoming EV is inspired by the BYD Dynasty Series, featuring a Dragon Face 3.0 front grille bracketed by LED headlights and LED DRLs. Adding to the MPV’s sporty front look are wing-shaped front bumper inserts and a full-width silver bar incorporating BYD script. The side profile is kitted with aluminium side sills and 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels while the rear boasts full-width tail lights with a subtle chrome strip.
The inviting cabin of the BYD M6 is well equipped with modern technology, featuring a 12.8-inch rotating infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay connectivity, a five-inch multi-info display, and a Qi wireless charging pad. Further adding to the comfort is faux leather upholstery, an automatic air conditioning system, keyless entry, power-adjustable ventilated front seats, push-button start, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a vehicle-to-load function, panoramic glass roof, and a 360-degree camera system.
Speaking of the drivetrain, the Malaysia-spec BYD M6 is likely to come with a single motor setup with two states of power outputs as we have seen in both Thailand and Indonesia. The base model delivers a maximum power of 163 PS and a peak torque of 310 Nm while the higher-spec model is tuned to deliver 204 PS and the same 310 Nm of torque. The former takes 10.1 seconds to run from zero to 100 kmph whereas the latter completes the said sprint in 8.6 seconds.
As for the battery, the BYD MPV gets a 55.4 kWh Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack as standard, providing an NEDC-rated range of 420 km. The higher trim, on the other hand, is equipped with a larger 71.8 kWh unit that can let the EV cruise up to 530 km.
In terms of safety, the Chinese minivan incorporates six airbags, stability control, and advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, autonomous emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring.
