BYD delivers first 100 units of the Atto 3 EV; more to come soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Over the weekend, BYD Malaysia hosted a ‘Grand Delivery’ ceremony at Sime Darby’s International Gallery in Kuala Lumpur. During the event, the Chinese automaker handed over the first 100 units of its electric car, Atto 3, to the owners with an official flag-off.

The EV is on offer in two variants here - Standard Range and Extended Range, priced at ts RM149,800, and RM 167,800, respectively. Both trims are powered by the same 201 hp/310 Nm e-motor, enabling the EV to run from zero to 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. However, when it comes to range, the two Atto 3 variants are not the same as the base-spec model uses a 49.92-kWh battery pack offering a range of 345 km (on the WLTP cycle) while the top-spec gets a bigger 60.48-kWh pack with a range of 420 km.
Among the key exterior highlights of the Chinese EV are LED headlights, chrome trims, LED tail lights,18-inch wheels (17-inch as standard), power-adjustable and heated door mirrors, and a powered tailgate.
The cabin exudes a futuristic vibe with several quirky elements and hi-tech features like a rotatable 12.8-inch infotainment unit, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, automatic single-zone air conditioning, 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster, DIRAC HD Sound System, electrically-operated front seats, ambient lighting, wireless phone charging pad, and Panoramic sunroof. The safety kit includes several active and passive safety systems.
With such pricing and specifications, BYD’s first electric vehicle in Malaysia rivals the likes of the GWM Ora Good Cat, Hyundai Kona Electric, Nissan Leaf, and Renault Zoe.
