BMW celebrates the 35th anniversary of M5 with a limited edition model

KUALA LUMPUR: The iconic BMW M5 has completed 35 years of existence in the auto world. And to honor it, BMW has launched a limited-edition model based on the ongoing F90 M5 Competition. Called the M5 Edition 35 Jahre, the car will go on sale starting July 2019 with just 350 units available globally.

Making sure that the 35th-anniversary model stands out, the car gets BMW Individual unique Frozen Dark Grey finish that includes pigmentation to create a silk matte impression. Other items taken from BMW Individual includes M grille, M tailpipes, and Shadow Lime trim package. The car will run on 20-inch M light alloy wheels with Y-spoke design, and they further come with Graphite Grey finish that was created for the limited-edition model exclusively. Behind the wheels is present the standard M compound brake unit with high-gloss black calipers. By spending a little extra, you can go for the M carbon ceramic brake system with calipers done in gold finish.

The cabin includes standard fitments like M multifunction seats wrapped in BMW Individual Merino full black leather with beige stitching. Enhancing the cabin appeal are the aluminium carbon structure gold anodized trims on the centre console, dashboard, and doo cards.

Reminding the buyers of its limited edition stature, the car will come with ‘M5 Edition 35 Jahre 1/350’ inscription on the cupholder cover. The door sills will bear the following text ‘M5 Edition 35 Jahre’.

Under the hood, the Edition 35 Jahre houses a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 mill that produces 625 PS and 750 Nm. This mill is paired with an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic gearbox that sends power to the wheels via M xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW claims the limited edition M5 to touch the 100 kmph mark in 10.8 seconds and hit the top speed of 200 kmph.
