BMW 7-Series G11 Gets Launched in Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur: German auto giant, BMW is gearing up itself to expand the model lineup worldwide. After revealing BMW 7-Series 730Li in Turkey, it has come to Malaysia to offer its 730Li and 740Li. This comes after G11 BMW 7-Series, which was spied on Malaysian roads earlier. Although this car is available in two model options namely G11 which is the regular one and G12, which is the long wheelbase model, here in Malaysia we would be getting only the G11 variant. When sixth-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class was launched in Malaysia a couple of years back, it gave a big push to the automobile industry. To counter that, BMW was preparing itself and now it has its answer in the form of flagship luxury sedan, the all-new 7-Series. Both the rivals have also got a competitive price tag as S-Class is currently available for RM583,888 and the 7-Series price comes to RM599,000. Apart from Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8, is the next saloon which will face a tough competition from the German conglomerate.
Under the hood, 730Li is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which churns out a maximum power of 258 hp from 5000 to 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 400 Nm from 1550 to 4400 rpm. Further, it is mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission which helps it to complete a century sprint in 6.3 seconds along with a top speed of 250 kmph. On the other hand, 740Li is employed with a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine which is capable of delivering a maximum power of 326 hp from 5500 to 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 450 Nm from 1380 to 5000 rpm. Further, it is paired to ZF eight-speed automatic transmission which helps it to complete a century sprint in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph.
Based on BMW Carbon Core Technology, this model is much lighter and efficient as compared to its predecessor. Towards the front fascia, it features company's very own kidney-shaped grille along with LED headlights and daytime running lights. The reworked bumper is now integrated with larger air intakes and fog lamps. The cabin of 7-Series is designed with high quality materials which includes leather seats and wooden panels on doors as well as the dashboard. Along with a four-zone automatic air conditioning system, it also gets a LCD colour display with BMW Display Key.
As we look behind the evolution of 7-Series, this car has evolved itself from being just a mean driving machine to a more comfort oriented car. Now it would be interesting to see whether it would be able to dethrone the S-class or not.
