Let’s get to know Honda’s first mainstream electric SUV in detail -
The car is designed at the Japanese carmaker’s Design Studio in the US and features a new ‘Neo-Rugged’ design philosophy that focuses on minimalism and clean aesthetics. Unlike the radically-designed EVs available on the market, the Prologue boasts a handsome look with familiar SUV proportions.
"Our goal was to create a clean harmony based on a rugged SUV image by coordinating the colours and materials to express neo-rugged design styling that’s familiar to our customers and uniquely Honda." – Masaki Sumimoto, design lead for Color, Materials and Finish at Honda.
The EV measures 4,877 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width, 1,643 mm in height, and has a massive wheelbase of 3094 mm thanks to dedicated EV architecture. As for comparison, the CR-V’s wheelbase stands at 2,701 mm. Well, it is needless to say this longer distance between the wheels results in generous legroom inside the cabin. Not only for occupants, but the EV will also have enough space for cargo, claims Honda.
Among the key exterior and interior highlights of the upcoming Honda Prologue are -
- Distinctive front fascia
- Honda badge at the rear with an e-series marking
- 21-inch wheels
- Panoramic roof
- Exclusive North Shore Pearl exterior shade inspired by Lake Tahoe in California
- Dual-tone cabin theme with chrome-lined air vents and premium materials
- 11-inch driver display panel
- 11.3-inch infotainment unit
While Honda remained tight-lipped on the new EV’s drivetrain specifications, reports suggest it will mimic the Blazer EV on this front. The latter comes in two different AWD setups - a single- and dual-motor configuration offering up to 515 km range on a single charge.
More information on the Honda Prologue is expected to roll closer to the launch, so stay tuned.
