Auto Expo 2020: Maruti Suzuki Unveils Futuro-e as design study
KUALA LUMPUR: Maruti Suzuki is going into overdrive with the Concept Futuro-e. After the rumours that had spread post the leaks on the trademark filing, the Indo-Japanese automaker has silenced all rounds by unveiling the concept model at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The Maruti Suzuki Concept Futuro-e is neither a coupe nor an SUV. Its design language is more focused on being a crossover, albeit with a sloping roofline. The company itself says that the concept is developed as a design study towards the future of mobility across the world.
Aesthetically, the Maruti Suzuki Concept Futuro-e is sharp and bold at all ends, especially the front end. The wheel arches look butch and the rear end has a boot spoiler to complete the overall sharp design.
Inside the cabin, the elements that are added indicate towards a futuristic approach. The four seats are spaciously stacked and the front ones get modern styled headrests. The steering wheel is rectangular and illuminated at the same time and there are many display screens all around the cabin. The centre console also holds a futuristic touch with seemingly illuminated touch sensors rather than buttons.
Considering that Maruti Suzuki has showcased this Concept Futuro-e as a global design study, no mechanical specifications have been revealed yet. However, all we know that it would be getting an electric powertrain.
Having said that, Suzuki is not operational in the Malaysian market yet. However, there was news last year that it would re-enter the market under Berjaya. Hence, if this is to be true, the Suzuki Concept Futuro-e design study seems to be very relevant here. Besides just this, we might also get a chance to buy the much-famed Suzuki Jimny. But as of now, there is no official word yet.
