Audi Q6 H-tron Concept to Make a Debut at 2016 Detroit Auto Show
Kuala Lumpur: Earlier in September, the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 witnessed the unveiling of Audi e-tron Quattro concept. Following this, now Audi has given a glimpse of Audi Q6 h-tron concept after the Audi A7 h-tron quattro was unveiled. All this hints towards Audi's plans to reveal a hydrogen fuel cell SUV concept at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January 2016.
This new concept would be sharing the same design language with that of Audi e-tron Quattro concept, but its battery pack would be replaced by hydrogen fuel cells. The automaker also claims that Q6 h-tron will use the same MLB platform like e-tron Quattro concept. The all-new Audi Q6 would come with an option of pure electric engine, internal combustion engine and as a hydrogen-fuelled electric vehicle. The upcoming Q6 h-tron is to compete with other fuel-cell vehicles like Toyota Mirai, Honda FCV Clarity and Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell.
Talking about Q6 e-tron, it is likely to go on sale by 2018 and would be giving a tough competition to Elon Musk's Tesla Model X. It would be powered by three electric motors that would churn out a maximum power of 434 hp and can cover a distance of 500 km in one single charge. By launching these electric vehicles like Q6 h-tron and Q6 e-tron, Audi is trying to focus more on the environment-friendly vehicle. This could also be seen as Audi's clever move to overcome the diesel emissions scandal.
