All-new seventh-gen Ford Mustang on its way

KUALA LUMPUR: The ongoing sixth-generation Ford Mustang has been around since December 2013, and thus the American automaker is set to give its highly popular pony car a generation update. As per the reports coming from the States, the all-new seventh-generation Mustang should be coming very soon as a 2023 model year vehicle. Well, Ford recently shed some light on its future plans that tell us more about this upcoming coupe. 

The American auto giant aims to put 3.7 billion dollars into its upcoming manufacturing projects in the country. A part of this huge amount will be used to develop the all-new senth-gen Mustang and the next-gen Ranger pickup. The production of the new vehicles will be carried out at Flat Rock Assembly Plant and Michigan Assembly Plant, respectively.

While there are still no official details on the upcoming Ford Mustang, here’s what we expect to get -

• The all-new Ford Mustang is likely to continue with a six-speed manual shift pattern, as hinted in the car’s teaser. The ‘7th GENERATION’ written on the image has a hidden pattern inside the alphabet ‘O’ resembling the three-pedal layout.

• As for the powertrain also, we could see the current 2.3-litre EcoBoost inline-four and 5.0-liter V8 found on the next-gen Mustang.
• However, a new all-wheel-drive system might be on the cards as the automaker has taken a patent for a new clutch-by-wire system.
• A hybrid Mustang may also be a part of the upcoming coupe’s lineup.
• In terms of looks, we expect a radical departure from the ongoing model with a completely new front fascia, and a wide array of colour and trim options, including huge wheels.
• The greater digitalisation inside the cabin is also expected to be on the list.

Well, these are just assumptions, and we have to wait for Ford to reveal some official information. Till then, stay tuned with us.
