All-new Kia EV6: Explained in pictures
It was only last week that Kia Malaysia launched a brand new electric vehicle, the EV6 in the local market.
The latest Kia EV only made its global premiere last year and in Malaysia, it is offered in one single variant option, the GT-Line AWD. With the price starting from RM 301k, the new EV6 is offered in the local market as a fully-imported unit from South Korea.

The Kia EV6 is built on the same platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, i.e., an Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). However, when it comes to dimensions the two are slightly different. The table mentioned below offers detail on the subject -

The Electronic pixels-inspired headlamps are 100% EV and have a moving light pattern. They sure add a sleek and refined touch to the car.
Adding to the car’s seamless design are the auto flush handles that are beautifully hidden inside the door. Equipped with a touch sensor, they come open with a simple touch.
Adding to the Evs' sporty and futuristic look is the full LED rear lamps' distinctive curved shape that surely attracts a lot of attention.
The EV6 comes with a wide sunroof that offers a great sense of openness and freedom. It sure allows passengers to enjoy the beautiful surroundings whenever they feel like it.
The EV6 comes equipped with super comfortable seats. The slim and strong front seat can recline neatly to a horizontal position. Also, They are designed to relieve the driver and passenger from hip and low back pressure.
The new Kia EV offers a truly immersive driving experience with ultimate visibility, thanks to the 12.3-inch cluster display and 12.3-inch centre information display. The curved display offers a seamless view with a 1,920 x 720 display resolution.
The EV6 gets a multi-charging system including 400 volt and 800 volt DC fast chargers without any additional onboard charger or a special adapter. It supports a maximum DC power input of 350 kW that gets the battery 80 percent pumped up in just 18 minutes.
Part of the kit is AC charging support (up to 11 kW) and a charger capable of fully charging the battery in 7 hours and 20 minutes.
Also, the EV comes with a basix three-pin to Type 2 AC charging cable which the owner can plug into a domestic power socket. However, with this setup the battery takes a long to charge, i.e., 32 hours and 45 minutes.
The EV6 benefits from Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support that includes an integrated charging control unit charging system that calls for bi-directional charging. Meaning, that the EV6’s battery can act as a high-capacity power bank which supplies up to 3.6 kW to fuel most of the owner's and passengers' electronic accessories.
All a user needs to do is select EV Ready or Utility mode and use the rear seat located power outlet. On the outside, all one needs to do is simply attach the V2L connector to the charging outlet.
The new Kia EV offers an immersive sound experience thanks to the Meridian (a premier audio brand and Kia partner) developed 14-speaker system. The sound output is further boosted by a powerful external amplifier.
The centre console gets a charging pad that lets one fuel up their compatible portable phones wirelessly. The system operates at a power of up to 15W, meaning a super-fast charge.
The centre fascia of the dashboard features a captivating touch screen that can be used to switch between climate control and media displays, all with just a touch of a button.
The EV6 comes with a hands-free smart power tailgate that opens up the tailgate to the desired height via the vehicle settings control. All the user needs to do is stand behind the car for a bit with the key and the tailgate will open automatically.
By just pulling the remote release lever on the cargo wall the rear seat folds and creates up to 1300-litre of storage capacity.
The centre console along with the EV’s starter button houses the space-saving Shift-By-Wire Selector that helps change gear position simply and quickly by just turning the dial.
The EV6 can be driven the way the driver likes, thanks to the following drive mode - Normal, Eco, and Sport. Once selected, each mode has a themed display for the cluster screen that switches from white to black at night.
Improving the driving range and efficiency is the Smart Regenerative Braking system that automatically adjusts the braking based on the traffic flow.
Kia has packed the EV6 with several advanced features that drive the car towards the future. It includes a Surround View Monitor offering a 360-degree overhead view around the car, Rear Occupant Alert, Safe Exit Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-spot View Monitor, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Smart Cruise Control.
