All-new Hyundai Elantra (Avante) debuts in Korea with upgraded tech

KUALA LUMPUR: Hyundai unveiled the first official images of the all-new Elantra (known as the Avante in Korea) a few weeks back, which has now been followed by its launch in the home market. Pricing for the new Korea-spec Avante/Elantra starts at ₩19,970,000 (RM 68,331) and goes all the way up to ₩32,630,000 (RM 111,649).

    • The latest sedan boasts a more streamlined appearance with the redesigned front end, featuring slimmer headlamps, a smaller grille, and new air curtains marginally improving fuel efficiency

    • As for the upgraded tech, the Elantra facelift gains a digital key (smartphone/smartwatch), a built-in dashcam mounted on the upper portion of the windshield, an 8-speaker Bose premium audio system with an amplifier, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and a wireless charging pad
    • The air conditioning system also gets a new feature called "After-Blow" which deals with mould/bad odours

    • Hyundai also raised the safety quotient of the sedan by increasing the number of airbags to eight
    • The suspension setup of the car has also been refined for a smoother driving experience

    The latest Elantra is offered in petrol, LPG, and hybrid powertrain choices in the Korean market. These include a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated Smartstream petrol mill producing a maximum power of 123 PS and a peak torque of 154 Nm, 1.6-litre LPi LPG-burning mill which is good for making 120 PS and 152 Nm of torque, and a self-charging hybrid setup (combining Smartstream engine and an electric motor) that churns out a combined output of 141 PS and 265 Nm.
