All-new 2025 Audi Q5 revealed with an overhaul design and mild-hybrid engines

KUALA LUMPUR: Audi has finally given the generational upgrade to its top-selling SUV, the Q5. The all-new third-gen Audi Q5 underpins the brand’s new Premium Platform Combustion architecture and will be offered in a range of mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid engine options.

Upon introducing the new Audi Q5, Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG, said "The Audi Q5 has been our most successful and most important SUV model in the midsize class for more than 15 years. The new edition is a further development of its proven characteristics.”

The next-gen model boasts Audi’s new design language with a huge front grille bracketed by two large air inlets and thin LED headlights. The rear fascia features innovative OLED tail lights with dynamic animations and a full-width OLED brake light. Audi has also introduced the all-new SQ5, which shares a similar design with the Q5 but stands out with unique dark accents that highlight its performance features.

The cabin of the new Audi Q5 is thoughtfully designed with a driver-centric layout. There is a squared-off steering wheel positioned in front of an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, which seamlessly integrates with a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen. The climate controls have been streamlined and are now flanked by thinner central air vents. The traditional gear selector has been replaced by a modern push-button panel, which also includes the electric parking brake switch. 

The front seats are now equipped with USB-C ports that can deliver up to 60 watts of power. The rear ports can provide up to 100 watts, which is sufficient for charging laptops.

The 2025 Audi Q5 is offered with three mild-hybrid engines (two petrol and one diesel) all combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. These include - a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit producing 201 PS and 340 Nm, a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder good for making 204 PS and 400 Nm, and a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 petrol mill tuned to generate 367 PS and 500 Nm. The latter is reserved for the top-spec SQ5 model.

The automaker will add two plug-in hybrid models next year, with power outputs of 295 PS and 362 PS, respectively.

As for enhanced safety, the 2025 Audi Q5 comes packed with a variety of driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition, front cross-traffic assist, front emergency brake assist, evasion assist, and junction assist.

The new Audi Q5 price in Germany starts from EUR 52,300 (RM 252,719) while the flagship SQ5 costs EUR 82,900 (RM 400,555).
