All-new 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport facelift debuts in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport facelift has made its official debut in the Thai market. The latest version of the SUV benefits from new looks, upgraded tech, and a new “Hyper Power” 2.4L straight-four engine.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is offered in four variants in the Land of Smiles - 

• Prime 2WD, priced at THB 1,389,000 (RM 182k)
• Ultra 2WD, priced at THB 1,529,000 (RM 200k)
• Elite Edition 2WD, priced at THB 1,579,000 (RM 207k)
• Elite Edition 4WD, priced at THB 1,689,000 (RM 221k)

All the variants of the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2024 are powered by a more powerful EURO-5 Hyper Power 2.4L 4-cylinder diesel engine generating a maximum power of 184 PS at 3,500 rpm and a peak torque of 430 Nm at 2,250 - 2,500 rpm. The enhanced engine and reduced vehicle weight result in higher power output, reduced CO2 emissions, and enhanced fuel efficiency, claims the automaker.

The engine comes mated to a new six-speed transmission coupled with four off-road modes: Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand, and Rock. The top-spec Elite Edition 4WD also gains the brand’s renowned Super Select 4WD II system.

In terms of design, the facelifted version boasts a new hexagonal front grille, restyled bumpers, and a new set of 18-inch black monotone alloy wheels. With the Elite Edition comes black side mirrors and door handles instead of chrome.

The cabin of the 2024 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is kitted with a new two-tone black-burgundy colour and smoked titanium decorations on the door trim and air vents. It includes a new multi-functional steering wheel with a paddle shift for a firmer grip, diamond-pattern seats with Heat Guard for improved comfort, and 8-way power-adjustable front seats with power lumbar support for the driver.

As for tech niceties, it comes with an intuitive eight-inch fully-digital driver display and an 8-inch infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, Bluetooth Hands-free Connection System, and Voice Control.

Also part of the kit is a premium Mitsubishi Power Sound System with 8 speakers and a power amplifier, a 12.1-inch Roof Monitor for rear passenger entertainment. electronic parking brake with auto brake hold and a hands-free power tailgate with five opening techniques.

Further adding to the convenience is a Mitsubishi Remote Control feature allowing users to send specific commands from their iOS or Android smartphones via Bluetooth. These commands include Car Finder, Vehicle Reminder, Tailgate Operation, Operation Assist, and Vehicle Information.

Introduced in 2015, the third-generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been around for nine years. It is set to be replaced by an all-new model next year, which will be based on the underpinnings of the new Mitsubishi Triton ute.
