All-new 2023 Volkswagen Amarok introduced; check details
KUALA LUMPUR: The Volkswagen Amarok has a long history of 12 years with over 800k units sold worldwide. Now, in 2022, the German pickup truck enters into the second generation with not one but two bodystyles and five engine options.
For those who aren’t aware, the new VW Amarok is a product of the VW and Ford alliance that was formed a while back in 2019. It was the same reason the Amarok is related to the new 2022 Ranger.

Let’s get to know the all-new 2nd gen VW Amarok pickup in detail, starting with the dimensions.

The 2023 Amarok will be offered in five variant options - Amarok, Life, Style, PanAmericana, and Aventura.

Overall, the 2nd gen Amarok with its extended wheelbase yields to a spacious cabin which is particularly beneficial in the double-cab bodystyle. Also, the new V now has shorter overhangs compared to its predecessor.
Also, the new pickup’s shift in proportions (approach, rear & departure angle) leads to better aesthetics and off-road capability.

With the given dimensions, the Amarok Single Cab can accommodate two Euro pallets loaded sideways, while the Double Cab version can take one Euro pallet sideways.
As for the pickup’s roof, it comes with an electrically operated roll cover that can be operated from inside the cargo box, via remote, and inside the cockpit.
2023 Volkswagen Amarok: Powertrain
The new Amarok is offered in five engine options - one petrol and four diesel options. The former is a 2.3-litre 4-cyl turbo mill making a maximum power of 302 PS and 452 Nm. This petrol mill is paired to a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
The four diesel engines are - a 150PS/350 Nm 2.0-litre TDI mill paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, a 170PS/405Nm 2.0-litre TID coupled with a 6-speed MT or AT, a 2.0-litre twin-turbo making 204 PS (209 PS in some markets) and 500 Nm mated to either a 6- or 10-speed AT, and a 241PS or 250 PS churning 3.0-litre TDI V6 unit paired to a 10-speed AT.
2023 Volkswagen Amarok: Features
The pickup’s standard specs kit includes LED headlamps, power-folding ORVM, cargo tray with lashing tray, 8-inch digital instrument display, 10-inch infotainment display with online connectivity & digital radio, 4-speaker audio, height-adjustable driver’s seat, and multifunction steering.
On the safety front, the pickup gets over 20 driver-assistance systems.
As we move up the variant ladder, the Amarok gets more and more advanced features, both inside and out.
The all-new VW Amarok’s production will commence in September this year at the automaker’s Silverton plant in South Africa.
