All-new 2023 Honda CR-V debuts in the US
KUALA LUMPUR: After a few months of teasing, Honda has finally yanked the silks off the all-new sixth-gen Honda CR-V. The completely redesigned SUV is more attractive, larger, better-equipped, and comes with a sportier two-motor hybrid engine option. It will go on sale in the US this summer, followed by other significant markets next year.

Exterior
The all-new CR-V boasts a rugged design that exhibits resemblance to the TrailSport variants of the Honda Passport and Ridgeline. On the front lies a large hexagonal grille edged by restyled headlights lights, while the rear dons with the Volvo-esque tail lights. We can also see the blacked-out grilles, vents, mirrors, wheels, and lower body mouldings, which are exclusive to the Sport and Sport Touring variants.
Dimensions
Against the measuring tape, the new Honda CR-V measures 4694 mm (+ 59 mm) long, 1864 mm (+ 9 mm) wide, 1691 mm (+ 12 mm) tall and spans a wheelbase of 2700 mm (+ 40 mm).
Interior
Inside the next-gen Honda CR-V, we can figure out many similarities with the latest Civic and the US-spec Honda HR-V. Honda US offers the new CR-V in different engine options, including -
- An updated 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder mill generating a maximum power of 190 hp and a peak torque of 243 Nm. It is mated to a CVT and Honda’s Real Time AWD system.
- With the higher trims, there is a new hybrid system on offer, which combines a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors. The system kicks out 204 hp and 335 Nm of torque. The power is sent to the wheels via an e-CVT gearbox.
Suspension
The SUV shares the chassis with the new Civic, which offers improved feel and accuracy, thanks to a new stiffer subframe paired with the MacPherson strut front suspension and variable-ratio steering.
Safety
As for safety, the revamped SUV is kitted with 10 airbags and an improved Honda Sensing safety suite. The upgrades include improved side-impact protection, improved collision prevention, and better adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist Also new for 2023 is traffic jam assist, low-speed braking control, and traffic sign recognition.
