When and where did Ford revealed the new Mustang?
On 15th Sept, at the 2022 Detroit Motor Show, Ford revealed the much-awaited 2023 Mustang. What is the powertrain configration of the new 2023 Mustang?
Powering the all-new Ford Mustang is the next-gen 5.0-litre V8 making more than 450 bhp and 500 Nm.The best-selling sports coupe globally in its latest version retains V8 power but that is accomplished by brand-new styling and tech configuration. Not to forget the advanced kit that has so much to offer.
According to Ed Krenz, Mustang's chief nameplate engineer, “This is the most athletic and confidence-inspiring Mustang to drive yet. Whether driving an automatic or manual transmission, thanks to Drive Modes combined with fine-tuned digital engine, suspension and steering controls, we’re now able to give drivers peak performance everywhere, from their favourite roads to their local track.”
Let’s now get to know the new Mustang in detail -
Engine
Powering the all-new Ford Mustang is the next-gen 5.0-litre V8 that takes the car’s stereo system by competition when it comes to playing soundtracks. Though the exact output figures are yet to be revealed, they'll surely be more than 450 bhp and 500 Nm.
Transmission
The drive is sent to the rear wheels either via a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
Driving dynamics
Ford has tuned the new Mustang with six customisable driving modes, namely Normal, Slippery, Sport, Track, Drag, and an Individual setting. A major improvement in the car’s driving dynamics comes from a faster steering ratio, enhanced responsiveness of the chassis, reduced compliance from steering to tyres, and much more.
Design
The new Mustang is offered in two body forms, coupe and convertible, both of which showcase a distinct design inside and out. On the outside, everything looks sleek and sharp that truly agrees with the car’s edgy aura. Part of the exterior design kit is slim LED headlights resting in the aggressive bonnet, dual air intake at the front (for improved performance), and19-inch multi-spoke alloys hiding the Brembo brakes. The rear profile gets a sharp-looking lighting unit with Mustang’s trademark three-bar light.
The cabin, like the exterior, looks edgy but in a comforting way. Compared to the previous model, the new Mustang offers more luxury and tech. Gone is the ‘double brow’ dashboard making way for a pair of screens boosting technology.
For a cleaner look, the physical buttons for radio and climate control are replaced by touch-sensitive controls. Overall, the entire cockpit is made more driver-focused with new flat-bottomed, thick-rimmed steering and sporty leather seats.
Connectivity features
Ford claims the new Mustang as the most digital model ever with features like a customisable 12.4-inch digital dash, a 13.2-inch infotainment system with Ford’s SYNC4, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto support, over-the-air software compatibility, wireless phone charger, and a 12-speaker B&O stereo.
In this era of the EV revolution, Ford has managed to keep the traditional pony car alive with the 7th generation Mustang. And we couldn’t be happier with the results. Do you agree? Let us know in the comments.
