All-new 2022 Honda HR-V to arrive in four variants & three engine options
KUALA LUMPUR: Honda Malaysia recently announced the arrival of the 2022 HR-V by opening up the car’s ordering books. The automaker further displayed the upcoming SUV at its various nationwide dealerships giving prospective buyers a chance to check out the car up & close.

2022 Honda HR-V: Variant & Pricing
The new HR-V will be offered in four variant options, namely - 1.5 S, Turbo E, Turbo V, and RS e:HEV. Though no pricing details have been shared yet, the SUV’s price is expected to range between RM 120K and RM 140K.
2022 Honda HR-V: Engine
The new HR-V will be offered in three engine options, depending on the variant picked.
Thus, making Malaysia the first country (most probably) to benefit from the biggest range of powertrain options. All three engines are based on a 1.5-litre inline-four unit, but with different configurations.
First, is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre mill making a max power of 121 hp along with a peak torque of 145 Nm. This one does duty on the entry-level S variant.
Next, is a 1.5-litre turbo mill generating a max power output of 177 hp along with a peak torque of 240 Nm. This powerplant setup is found under the 2022 HR-V’s E and V trims.
The range-topping RS model is powered by a 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid unit that churns out 131 hp of power and 253 Nm of torque.
2022 Honda HR-V: Transmission
While the entry-level S, mid-spec E and V variants will have their engines paired to a CVT gearbox that will transmit power to the front wheels exclusively.
As for the range-topping RS model, it gets an e-CVT gearbox sending power to the front wheels.
2022 Honda HR-V: Features
Exterior- On the outside, the 2022 HR-V will benefit from a number of standard features like automatic LED headlights, LED combination tail lights, 17-inch two-tone alloys, power-folding ORVM, and keyless entry with walk-away automatic locking.
The E variant as an add-on gets LED front fog lamps, 17-inch grey alloys, twin visible tailpipes, and remote engine start.
The V model, over and above the features mentioned, gets sequential LED front indicators and 18-inch grey alloys.
The RS variant though gets the same features as the rest, it does come with several distinguishing design elements. For instance, chrome chequered grille, chrome lower trim, red front ‘heartbeat’ graphic, gloss black cladding, and a single hidden tailpipe.
Interior - The new Honda HR-V benefits from a wide range of cabin comfort features. Part of the car’s standard specs kit is - a push-button start, multi-functional steering wheel with tilt & telescopic adjustment, single-zone automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, 8-inch touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, two USB ports, rear parking sensors, four speakers, and reverse camera.
The 2022 HR-V E model further gets two additional USB ports at the rear, 7-inch part digital instrument panel, and a rear centre armrest.
Taking things a notch higher is the HR-V V model with its Honda Connect remote service, 8 speakers, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, leather-wrapped steering wheel & gear knob, and black leather upholstery.
The range-topping RS trim as an add-on gets a hands-free powered tailgate, automatic wipers, tyre repair kit, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
2022 Honda HR-V: Safety
The new HR-V standard safety kit is quite impressive with several active and passive features. Part of the list is - four airbags, ABS with EBD & BA, hill start assist, stability control, hill descent control, agile handling assist, seat belt reminder on all seats, emergency stop signal, and rear seat reminder. Also, part of the car’s safety pack is a Honda Sensing suite of driver-assisted features including autonomous emergency braking, automatic high beam, lane-keeping assist, lane centering assist, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
The E & V trim gets two additional airbags (curtain airbags). While the V & RS model comes with an efficient lane watch blind spot camera.
