All-new 2022 Ford Fiesta debuts in Europe
KUALA LUMPUR: The seventh-generation Ford Fiesta hatchback received a mid-life refresh in the European market. Available in three variants - Active, and ST, the updated model gets styling tweaks inside and out and a tweaked powertrain under the hood. Along with the regular model, the Fiesta van available in the Old Continent also received changes for the 2022 model year. Let’s check out the details.
On the exterior, the car now has standard LED headlights across the range and matrix LED lights with an anti-dazzle high beam for the higher trims. The headlights also feature black surrounds whereas the optional LED tail lights benefit from a dark tint. Each Fiesta trim has a unique front grille for a clear visual distinction. The top-spec Fiesta ST also features an aerodynamically optimised front spoiler, side skirts, rear spoiler, and a body-coloured diffuser.
Included in the facelifted Ford Fiesta interior highlights are:
- 12.3-inch digital driver's display
- 14-way powered Performance Seats on the front
- 8-inch touchscreen central infotainment system called SYNC 3
- B&O Sound System with 10 speakers and a 575-watt DSP amplifier
On the mechanical front, the 2022 Fiesta ST is fitted with an updated 1.5-litre turbocharged 3-cyl EcoBoost mill with the unchanged power output of 200 hp and a raised torque level of 320 Nm (30 Nm more). This supermini can run from zero to 100 kmph in 6.5 seconds before attaining a top speed of 230 kmph.
As for the lower trims, a single 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost engine is available with four different tunes, including two electrified ones. The hybrid mill paired with an 11.5 kW belt integrated starter-generator is capable of generating 125 hp or 155 hp.
Ford will commence the deliveries of the new Fiesta hatchback early next year.
