Ahead of Malaysia, Volvo EX30 launches at GIIAS 2024; starting from RM 257k
KUALA LUMPUR: Volvo is strongly committed to becoming a fully electric car brand by the end of 2030 and climate-neutral by 2040. In line with this mission, the Swedish luxury carmaker is expanding the distribution of its pure EVs all over the globe. The brand recently introduced its new premium compact SUV, the EX30, at the 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), which is also earmarked to launch in Malaysia this year.

The Volvo EX30 is expected to land on Malaysian soil later this year.The Volvo EX30 is offered in two variants in Indonesia - Plus and Ultra, priced at IDR 890,000,000 (RM 257,067) and IDR 1,160,000,000 (RM 335,054), respectively.
The entry-level trim comes equipped with a 51 kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 344 km. Meanwhile, the Ultra variant comes with a 69 kWh battery that is claimed to cover a distance of up to 479 km on a full charge. The battery can juice up from 10% to 80% in just about 26 minutes when using fast DC charging. Both trims are powered by a single motor good for making 272 hp and 343 Nm.
The EX30 is the brand’s smallest SUV measuring 4,233 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,549 mm in height. The wheelbase is measured at 2,650 mm.
The Volvo EX30 features a modern design equipped with a bucketload of advanced features. The list includes LED headlights, a powered tailgate, a panoramic roof, a 12.3-inch infotainment unit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, ambient lighting, Harman Kardon audio system, and wireless charging pad for smartphones.
In terms of driver assistance and safety, the electric SUV comes with Adaptive cruise control, Blind Spot Monitoring System, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Collision Avoidance System, Driver Alert System, Pilot Assist, and Park Pilot Assist.
Notably, the EV also uses renewable and recycled materials in several ways. About 25% of all aluminium, and 17% of all steel and plastics in the vehicle are recycled. Additionally, around 30% of the interior decor parts are made from recycled plastic.
The colour palette comprises five choices - Moss Yellow, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Vapour Grey, and Cloud Blue.
