A90 Toyota GR Supra will soon land on Malaysian shores
KUALA LUMPUR: The Supra made the whole world wait for it, didn’t it? While the wait was painful, the result at the end was equally sweet and satisfying. And now, the A90 Toyota GR Supra is all set to go roaring on the roads around the world. However, countries like ours have always been victims of extended delays. Anyways, the hurtful hours will soon be gone, and we will finally be able to get our hands on the newest Supra.
Yes, you read that right! UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) announced that the Japanese manufacturer would launch the highly awaited Supra in the Malaysian territory sooner than later. The new Supra has at its heart two engines. The first option is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder motor that can produce 197 PS of maximum power between 4,500 to 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 320 Nm midst 1,450 and 4,200 rpm. With 258 PS from 5,000 to 6,000 rpm and 400 Nm amid 1,550 and 4,400 rpm is another variant of the same engine on offer.
Talking about the second powerhouse, we have a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six engine which churns out a maximum power of 340 PS between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 500 Nm that kicks in at 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. The GR Supra with this particular engine takes no more than 4.3 seconds to complete a 0-100 run. All the power generated by the 3 different motors is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. There is no reliable information available yet about which variant of the new Supra will the Malaysian market receive. Hence, until Toyota Malaysia makes another official announcement, all we can do is wait patiently, just like we have been since long.
