9 units limited 2023 Toyota GR Corolla introduced in Thailand

KUALA LUMPUR: All-new Toyota GR Corolla has finally made its ASEAN debut with Thailand being the first from the lot to welcome the new car.

As for now only nine units of the GR Corolla, all fully imported, will be brought to Thailand, as per reports from Headlightmag. The car would retail for 3.949 million baht (around RM 497,567), a piece of information announced by the automaker at the 39th Thailand International Motor Expo.

Powering the new GR Corolla is a 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo mill making a maximum output of 304 hp and a peak torque of 370 Nm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Along with the all-wheel drive system, the new Toyota goes from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds.

Other key highlights of the Thai-spec GR Corolla include -

• MacPherson strut front suspension & double wishbone rear suspension
• 18-inch alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres
  4-pot 18-inch ventilated disc brakes in front & 2-pot 16-inch ventilated disc brakes in the rear

• Torsen limited slip differentials in the front & rear
• GR Service Package; includes free periodic labor, maintenance, and spare parts for 3 years/60,000km
• GR Roadside Services; includes a 5-year emergency assistance service
• GR Experience; offers training rights for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Academy Thailand course and a chance to participate in driving activities at the world-class Chang International Circuit

For those who aren’t aware, the Toyota GT Corolla made its global debut back in March 2022, in California. Followed by its launch in Japan as the ‘GR Corolla RZ’ and the limited-series GR Corolla Morizo Edition. The latter was limited to just 200 units and was made only available in the US and Japan. It weighs 30 kg less, uses differential gear ratios, and pumps out 400 Nm of torque.

GR Corolla in Malaysia

Though there is no official word from Toyota on the subject, with the GR Yaris being previously sold in Malaysia, we expect the GR Corolla to arrive as well.
