5-door Suzuki Jimny launched in the Philippines; Will it come to Malaysia?

KUALA LUMPUR: The 5-door Suzuki Jimny made its global debut in early 2023 in India offering two additional doors for better practicality compared to the Malaysia-spec 3-door model. After India, the 5-door SUV was previewed in Australia and Singapore and recently it hit the roads in the Philippines.

Suzuki Philippines offers the all-new 5-door Jimny in three variants - GL MT, GLX AT Monotone, and GLX AT Two-tone, priced between P1.558 million (approx RM 130,617) and P1.708 million (approx RM 143,192).

The 5-door version measures 3,820 mm in length (505 mm longer than 3-door), 1,645 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height and spans a 2,590 mm wheelbase (340 mm longer than 3-door). The increased wheelbase resulted in a better luggage area, enhanced by the lower floor height and greater depth. This provides owners with a cargo space ranging from 211 to 1,131 litres.

Just like the 3-door model, the Jimny with additional doors maintains the boxy body exuding off-road capability and durability. It is equipped with the same five-slot grille, round headlamps, a flat clamshell bonnet, and 15-inch dark-metallic alloy wheels.

Powering the 5-door Suzuki Jimny is the tried and tested 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that makes 105 PS of maximum power and 130 Nm of peak torque. The engine is coupled with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox.

Based on a rugged, ladder-frame chassis, the off-road SUV is also equipped with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system, low range gearbox with different modes (2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low), an electronic traction control system, and a 3-link rigid axle suspension setup. 

Depending on the variant, the interior comes kitted with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multi-info driver display, a four-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, leather seats, six airbags, hill hold assist, hill descent control, and rear parking sensors.

Will the 5-door Suzuki Jimny come to Malaysia?

Well, there is no official information yet available on the 5-door Suzuki Jimny's arrival in Malaysia. However, its presence in Australia, Singapore, and the Philippines strongly suggests that it might soon make its way to the local market.
