300 unit limited Honda CR-V Mugen on sale in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Unlike the not on-sale Honda Civic Type R Mugen, the CR-V Mugen model is available for grabs in Malaysia. This comes shortly after the introduction of Honda HR-V with black interior trim.

Coming back to the Mugen trim of the CR-V, it is a limited run model of which only 300 units are available, and it is based on the SUVs 1.5L Turbo 2WD trim. The CR-V Mugen is offered in two color choices - Passion Red for RM 152,900 and While Orchid Pearl for RM 153,300. Note, the price mentioned above does not include insurance.

Brushing your memory a bit, it is the same Honda CR-V Mugen concept that was showcased in the country at past two occasions - first at Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2019 and next at the Malaysia Autoshow 2019. But there is a slight tweak, the model showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow stood on 19-inch MDR aluminium wheels, while the one going on sale features the standard 18-inch alloy units.

Like the concepts showcased at the auto events, the CR-V Mugen model gets body-colored extensions beneath the front and rear bumper and sides. The front features grille garnish, while the rear gets an upper wing. And like the concept, we can see the Mugen badging on the CR-V.

The add-on here is limited just to the exterior, with the cabin replicating the standard feature list. The interior features black leather paired stylishly with wood finish trim as seen on the Turbo 2WD trim. It also gets automatic wipers and four-corner parking sensors.

Under the hood, the CR-V Mugen gets an L15B7 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that churns out a maximum power of 193 PS at 5,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 243 Nm from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via an Earth Dreams CVT unit.
