25th Borneo Safari Flagged Off: Isuzu D-Max Leads the Convoy of Over 250 Vehicles
KUALA LUMPUR: The 25th Borneo Safari was flagged off recently with two times ‘Borneo Safari Vehicle of the Year’ - Isuzu D-Max leading the convoy of more than 250 vehicles into Sabah's jungles, where the participants will spend the next 8 days in.
This year, the event was flagged off by Sabah's Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, in Kota Kinabalu. It's the 9th consecutive year that members of media would witness the trustworthy Isuzu D-Max showing some serious action, effectively and comfortably. On the occasion, Hajime Machimura, Executive Director of Isuzu Malaysia says,“For close to a decade, the press has been able to keep pace with the progress of the event from the cockpits of the official media Isuzu D-Max. These vehicles have long risen beyond trying to prove their abilities in the rough; instead, they have established themselves as a fixture of the Borneo Safari.”
Currently, the Isuzu D-Max holds two ‘Borneo Safari Vehicle of the Year’ titles for performing outstandingly as a standard vehicle in the world's toughest 4X4 off-road expedition. The vehicle derives its derives its strength and capability from the DNA inherited from its predecessors. The Isuzu D-Max is built on a tried and tested iGRIP design platform that delivers it an outstanding stability and handling tilt angles of up to 49 degrees quite easily. Its engine’s produces superb torque at low revs (Rpm) to ensure extraordinary traction and hill-climbing power – the main characteristic of the top-class four wheel drive vehicle (4WD). The 25th Borneo Safari again features three variants of Isuzu D-Max leading the media convoy, namely, one 3L model and two 2.5L variants.
