2024 Honda CR-V: New features to look out for

The Honda CR-V has been winning the hearts of Malaysians since 2003 when the first CKD model of the SUV rolled out from the brand’s Melaka facility. To date, the automaker has sold more than 129,000 units of the car, cementing its position as one of the best-selling Honda cars in Malaysia. Well, the CR-V is likely to continue its dominance in the non-national SUV segment with its next-gen iteration, which is set to launch next month.

Honda Malaysia has started accepting bookings for the sixth-gen CR-V and has also revealed the new features we can look forward to in the upcoming model. Let's delve into them in detail.

Hybrid engine with an e:CVT

The 2024 Honda CR-V will be available with a new 2.0-litre e:HEV hybrid powertrain mated to an improved Hybrid Traction Motor, making it among the first Honda models to get it. The said setup kicks out a total system output of 184 PS and a peak torque of 335 Nm. As for sending power to the wheels, the powertrain is hooked with an Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e:CVT), which is a first for Honda Malaysia. 

Upgraded Honda Sensing system

The new CR-V will be equipped with the upgraded Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver-assist systems. The pack now offers a total of nine safety systems with the addition of the Adaptive Driving Beam. The list of continuing systems includes - Auto High Beam, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist System, Low-Speed Follow, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Forward Collision Warning. 

12-speaker Bose audio system

Honda has replaced the old 8-speaker audio system with a new 12-speaker Bose audio system, which is a first for Honda Malaysia. The said audio system is crafted with advanced components to ensure crisp, balanced sound across all frequencies. The system's Dynamic Speed Compensation technology automatically adjusts volume and tone based on vehicle speed, providing an optimal listening experience without manual adjustments on the road.

Honda Connect 

The upcoming Honda CR-V will also have the Honda Connect telematics suite, offering car owners a variety of functions via a dedicated mobile app available for both Apple and Android devices. This app allows remote access to various functions and real-time vehicle status such as locking/unlocking the car, engine start and stop, turning the air con on/off and more.

360° Camera 

The SUV also benefits from a new 360-degree camera, which is a step up from the usual multi-view reverse camera. It will offer a comprehensive view, enhancing driver confidence with a complete perspective of the vehicle's surroundings. 

RS trim

This is the first time the Honda CR-V comes in the sporty RS trim. It features the RS-specific front grille featuring a bold mesh pattern and an Active Shutter grille on the lower bumper. Also part of the kit are full LED headlights and tail lights, front LED sequential turn signals, and LED front fog lights.

New 18-inch alloy wheels

The new CR-V is also fitted with new 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels that not only elevate the SUV’s aesthetics but also promise an enhanced performance on the road. The wheels are painted Berlina Black shade, which adds a touch of sophistication to the vehicle's overall design.
