KUALA LUMPUR: The much-anticipated launch that Malaysian car enthusiasts were eagerly counting down the days for is finally here. Honda has finally launched the all-new sixth-generation CR-V in Malaysia, setting new standards in the crossover segment. Let’s know the new CR-V in detail -

Variants and pricing

The 2024 Honda CR-V is offered in four variants at the prices mentioned below -

Engine and performance

The non-hybrid variants of the new CR-V are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing a maximum power of 193 PS at 5,600 rpm and a peak torque of 243 Nm at 2,000 – 5,000 rpm. The power is sent to the wheels via a continuously variable transmission paired with a front-wheel drive system in the S and E and an all-wheel drive in the V AWD trim. 

The Honda CR-V 2.0 RS Hybrid, on the other hand, comes equipped with the Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) mild-hybrid system. It comprises a 2.0-litre NA Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder engine acting as a generator and an e-motor, which combinedly kick out 184 PS and 335 Nm. The hybrid mill is hooked up with an e-CVT gearbox.

Exterior

The upgraded Honda SUV boasts a rugged design with a large hexagonal grille, restyled auto LED headlights, and new Volvo-esque LED tail lights. Parts of the standard kit are LED daytime running lights, LED sequential turn signals, LED fog lights, and 17-inch silver alloy wheels. With the E trim, the customers also get a hands-free powered tailgate and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The RS hybrid trim, however, sets itself apart from non-hybrid models with RS body styling elements, RS badging, an active shutter grille, roof rails, black side mirror covers and shark fin antenna, and unique 18-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels.

In terms of size, the new CR-V is longer, wider, and taller than its predecessor, which highlights the automaker’s commitment to delivering a more spacious, comfortable, and dynamic driving experience. The boot capacity has also grown, offering more space for daily essentials and larger items.

The cabin of the new Honda CR-V is a feature-rich heaven, integrating cutting-edge technologies and offering an elevated driving experience. The list of the features includes -

Safety 

The new Honda CR-V sets a benchmark in safety as it comes with the Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance suite as standard. The pack includes - Forward collision warning, Autonomous emergency braking, Adaptive cruise control, Low speed follow, Road departure mitigation, Lane departure warning, Lane keeping assist, Automatic high beam, and Lead car departure notification. The SUV is packed with eight airbags (front, side, side curtain, and knee).

The CR-V E trim adds a Honda LaneWatch side camera system and four front parking sensors while the V brings a 360-degree camera system and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Over and above, the features exclusive to the RS variant are adaptive driving beams and active sound control.

Colours

Honda Malaysia offers the SUV in five exciting colour options - Canyon River Blue Metallic (New), Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Crystal Black Pearl.
