2023 Toyota Crown Sedan arriving soon; will be the brand’s second FCEV
KUALA LUMPUR: After Toyota Mirai, the all-new 2023 Toyota Crown Sedan will be the second hydrogen fuel-cell electric vehicle (FCEV) passenger car.
Once launched, the new Crown Sedan will be offered in two drivetrains, including an FCEV and a full-hybrid vehicle.
While Toyota has not revealed any details yet, the Mirai’s powertrain setup is known to generate 182 PS and offers a driving range of 750-850 km. Its 70 MPa filling pressure hydrogen tank gets refueled in about 5 minutes.
The Crown Sedan FCEV is said to feature the same drivetrain as the former and it offers similar performance.
As for the hybrid model, it is likely to feature either a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre mill taken from the Camry Hybrid with a belt-less E-CVT or 2.4-litre turbocharged engine coupled with a 6-speed Direct Shift CVT type automatic transmission.
The ongoing Crown Crossover, on the other hand, is offered in only Crown quartet trim which is offered in two hybrid engine options. The second body type to join will be a sedan, the Crown Sedan. Later, the Crown lineup will be joined by the Crown Estate and Crown Sport.
