2023 Proton Exora launched in Malaysia at RM 62,800
KUALA LUMPUR: After receiving the first running change (RC) back in 2019, the Proton Exora now gets another refresh, which is called the RC2. In the latest form, the seven-seater MPV benefits from a few minor updates while refuting the market expectations of getting a new powertrain. On the exterior, the Exora finally comes equipped with the brand’s latest roundel logo positioned on the front grille and boot lid. The LED daytime running lights are also new for 2022. Other than that, the MPV continues to feature the same headlights, tail lights, 16-inch single-tone alloys, and manual-folding side mirrors.
The colour palette of the 2023 Proton Exora also remains unchanged with five options to choose from -Rosewood Maroon, Snow White, Indiana Grey, Ruby Red, and Cocoa Grey.
Interior
Inside, the changes can be observed in the form of a new Proton logo on the same steering wheel and full leatherette upholstery replacing the semi-leatherette. The latter is exclusive to the top-spec Premium variant. Rest all the elements remain identical, including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, “Hi Proton” voice command system, a multi-info instrument cluster display, N95 cabin filter, and four speakers.
Engine specifications
Powering the MPV is the same 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cyl petrol engine generating a maximum power of 140 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 205 Nm from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm. The engine is hooked to a CVT transmitting power to the front wheels.
Safety
In terms of safety, the electronic stability control (ESC) is now a standard fitment with no advanced features yet available for the MPV.
Price
While the changes are minor, it increased the Proton Exora price by up to RM 3,000. Here’s the MPV’s new price list -

Included in the price is a five-year/150,000 km warranty, three times complimentary labour service, and a five-year data package (1 GB per month).
On introducing the second running change for the model, deputy CEO of Proton, Roslan Abdullah, said, “The 2023 Proton Exora, Malaysia’s first home-grown MPV, is designed and built with Malaysia’s rakyat in mind.”
“With this latest update, we took a class-leading product and made it even better for drivers and passengers alike, across a variety of applications, by reinforcing its proposition of power, space, and value. With more than 180,000 units sold over 13 years, the Proton Exora is Malaysia’s best-selling C-Segment MPV and to this day retains that position,” he added.
