The 2023 Mitsubishi ASX is based on the same CMF-B platform that also underpins the new Renault Captur. How many engine options will be offered with the 2023 Mitsubishi ASX?
The 2023 Mitsubishi ASX will be offered in four engine options in Europe - a 1.6-litre plug-in hybrid, a 1.6-litre hybrid, a 1.3-litre mild-hybrid turbocharged, and a 1.0-litre turbocharged. Not only the platform, but the new ASX also appears much similar to the Captur in terms of exterior design. It boasts the same floating roof pattern with dual-tone finishing and an upturned kink starting from the window line that runs all the way to the tailgate. However, we cannot ignore the major cosmetic differences setting the Mitsubishi SUV apart from the Captur. These include the signature Dynamic Shield grille pattern, new chrome trim inserts, and the triple-diamond logo.
Also, the lower bumpers at both ends carry black plastic trim instead of the silver trim found on French models. At the rear, the reverse camera is not hidden under the company badge as in the Captur.
Speaking about the 2023 Mitsubishi ASX engine specifications, here the European customers get four different options to choose from -
- A plug-in hybrid comprising a 1.6-litre petrol engine and two electric motors (one acts as an alternator-starter while the other is the main motor) , combinedly producing a maximum power of 160 hp. Also part of the mechanical setup is a 10.5 kWh battery and a multi-mode automatic gearbox
- A hybrid mill with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, two electric motors, a 1.3 kWh battery, and a multi-mode automatic transmission. The setup is good for making 145 horsepower.
- A 1.3-litre mild-hybrid direct-injection turbocharged unit generating 140 hp when paired with a six-speed manual or 158 hp with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
- A 97hp 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol mill mated to a six-speed manual gearbox
Hop inside the new Mitsubishi ASX and you will find the almost identical things you see on the Renault Captur such as the same dashboard architecture, AC vents, key switches, instrument console, and vertically-oriented infotainment unit. However, the Mitsubishi badge positioned on the steering wheel confirms the identity of the Japanese SUV.
While the 2023 Mitsubishi ASX price is yet to be revealed, the deliveries of the revamped model will commence in selected European markets from March 2023.
