2023 Honda WR-V launched in Malaysia; here’s all you need to know

KUALA LUMPUR: After almost a one month long preview, the all-new Honda WR-V has finally made its way to the local roads. The WR-V (Winsome Runabout Vehicle) is a B-segment SUV locally assembled at the brand’s Pegoh, Melaka facility. It is being offered in four variants - S, E, V, and RS. Let’s know the new Honda SUV in detail -

    The above-mentioned prices include a standard 5-year unlimited mileage warranty against manufacturing defects and five free labour services applicable for five years or 100,000 km (whichever comes earlier).

    2023 Honda WR-V dimensions

    Size-wise, the new Honda SUV measures 4,060 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width, and 1,608 mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance are measured at 2,485 mm and 220 mm, respectively.

    All the variants of the Malaysia-spec WR-V are powered by the same 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated DOHC engine that we can also find under the bonnet of the City sedan and hatchback models. The said engine delivers a maximum power output of 121 PS at 6,600 rpm and a peak torque of 145 Nm at 2,300 rpm. The power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox. 

    No hybrid variant of the Honda WR-V is offered at launch.

    The suspension setup of the SUV comprises standard MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Helping the car stop are front ventilated disc and rear drum brakes.

    Design-wise, the SUV looks compact and well-proportioned. The base trim comes kitted with halogen headlights, LED rear lights, and 16-inch single-tone five-spoke alloy wheels. The top-spec RS trim, on the other hand, boasts a sportier and modern appearance with a distinctive chrome chequered front grille, RS badging, LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED fog lights, LED sequential front turn indicators, and 17-inch two-tone alloys.

    Honda Malaysia offers the new WR-V in five striking tones - Ignite Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Stellar Diamond Pearl, and Crystal Black Pearl.

    The standard safety kit of the SUV comprises four airbags, a Honda LaneWatch side camera system, ABS with EBD and brake assist, Vehicle stability control, Hill start assist, and Emergency stop signal. However, in the higher trims (E onwards), customers also get the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, which includes the following advanced driver-assistance systems -
