2023 Honda WR-V grabs 5-star safety rating

KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Honda WR-X was launched last year by the Japanese automaker as the answer to the likes of Daihatsu Rocky and Toyota Raize. While the car impressed everyone around with its design and practical features, now it has won more hearts with its 5-star safety rating.

Yes, in a safety test recently conducted by ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme for Southeast Asian Countries), the WR-V attained a 5-star rating. Though not a part of Honda's local lineup, the compact SUV recently went on sale in Indonesia.

2023 Honda WR-V ASEAN NCAP safety test details -

Part of the ASEAN NCAP safety test was WR-V’s range-topping variant called the RS. The said trim comes equipped with Honda Sensing suite of driver and safety assist features, thus providing the car with an extra layer of protection.

Thanks to the car’s safety profile including - six airbags, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, electronic stability control, and anti-lock braking system, the SUV secured such impressive points.

Overall, the 2023 WR-V showcased a commendable performance at the ASEAN NCAP safety assessment with a total score of 77.07 points. Thus, successfully obtaining a maximum score of 5 stars in all assessed categories.

A little about the 2023 Honda WR-V -

Powering Honda’s new compact SUV is a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre engine generating a maximum output of 121 PS at 6,600 rpm along with a peak torque of 145 Nm at 4,300 rpm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT unit.

The car showcases a generous ground clearance of 220 mm and is priced between 279.4 million and 317.4 million rupiah (approx RM 79,375 and RM 90,170).
