2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 gets five stars in ANCAP testing
KUALA LUMPUR: The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series was recently tested by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) and as expected, this go-anywhere SUV passed the crash testing by flying colours. It scored a perfect five-star rating, which applies to all the variants, except the off-road-focused GR Sport.

The automotive safety organization highlights the performance of the car’s autonomous emergency braking system and lane support system. The former mitigated collisions in most test scenarios, as per the company.
ANCAP CEO Carla Hoorweg quoted, "The protection the Toyota LandCruiser offers to vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, is impressive for a large SUV.”
"Larger, heavier vehicles always present higher risks for other road users and this is why ANCAP focuses on a vehicle’s ability to either avoid a crash or reduce its impact, through our suite of Safety Assist tests. The safety specifications in the new generation Toyota LandCruiser are a welcome update to its predecessor,” Hoorweg added.
Globally revealed in 2021, the new LC 300 will hit the roads in several markets this year, including Australasia, and the US. It is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 mill that delivers a maximum power output of 409 hp and a peak torque of 650 Nm. It is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota has not changed much on the SUV’s exterior, but the cabin gets a bucket load of advanced features like a 12.3-inch screen, a nine-inch infotainment system, a rear-seat entertainment unit with two screens, wireless phone charging, a HUD, and a 360-degree camera. As for safety, there are multiple airbags, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
