2022 Porsche 911 GTS revealed with 0-100 kmph acceleration of 3.3 seconds
KUALA LUMPUR: Porsche introduced the first GTS iteration of the legendary 911 back in 2009 and now after twelve years, the automaker unveils the all-new generation of the popular sports car. Positioned between the Carrera S and Turbo trims, the 2022 Porsche 911 GTS will be available in 5 variants - Carrera GTS with rear-wheel drive as Coupé and Cabriolet, Carrera 4 GTS with all-wheel drive as Coupé and Cabriolet, and the Targa 4 GTS with all-wheel drive.
Powering all the trims is a slightly tweaked 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine kicking out a maximum power of 480 PS and a peak torque of 570 Nm. That’s 30 PS more power and 20 Nm more torque than the Carrera S. The available transmission options include an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) or a seven-speed manual,
According to Porsche, the car can hit the century sprint in just 3.3 seconds when mated to the PDK, i.e. 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor.
Besides the peppier engine, the automaker also brought on board a GTS-specific suspension system with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). It has an adaptive damper that lowers the vehicle by 0.4 inches. On the contrary, the GTS Targa is fitted with the standard suspension. As for braking, the car equips a high-performance braking system borrowed from the 911 Turbo.
For the new-gen 911 GTS, Porsche also introduced an optional “Lightweight Design package,” which gives a choice to shed the weight of the sports car. The pack includes lightweight side and rear windows, carbon-fibre bucket seats, and a lightweight battery. These altogether can make the car 25 kg lighter, says Porsche.
In terms of design, the sports car gets black contrasting bodywork elements and darkened headlight areas on the exterior. In the same way, the interior is also dominated by black colour. Many trimmings are made of Race-Tex microfibre. As for tech, the latest generation of Porsche Communication Management brings several improvements in operation as well as connectivity.
The all-new Porsche 911 GTS will go on sale in early 2022 in the global market with a starting price tag of $137,050 (RM 570,832).
