2022 Mazda CX-3 revised for Malaysia: What's new

Mazda Malaysia recently introduced the 2022 MX-5 Fastback in the local market, prior to which the automaker introduced the updated CX-5 and all-new 2022 Mazda 3 Ignite Edition. However, in the middle of all these major happenings, the up and running CX-3 received its share of updates.

So, here we'll be discussing all that is new with the Malaysia-spec Mazda CX-3. Let's get started -

Price & Variant

The 2022 Mazda CX-3 is available in one variant, the 2.0L High. The model now retails at RM 131,929 (on-the-road without insurance & inclusive of 50 percent SST exemption), making it RM 1,200 costlier than the 2021 model.

New features

The new CX-3 comes with not many improvements; however, the ones it does add are truly worth the additional cost and improve the car's comfort level. The list includes a Qi wireless charger (a feature seen in many premium cars) and a bigger infotainment system (it now measures 8-inches).

The new 8-inch display now supports wireless Apple CarPlay (earlier, it required a wired connection). Android users would still need a cable for Android Auto connectivity. The display, like before comes with Mazda Connect.

That's all; everything else remains the same as before. However, what's the harm in brushing up a little. So, here's what the CX-3 crossover offers -

Engine

The 2022 CX-3 is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre DOHC 16-Valve 4-cylinder with a VVT engine. This unit generates a max power of 154 hp at 6,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 206 Nm at 2,800 pm. Here are a few other powertrain specifications -

Braking & handling

Ensuring a smooth ride all along the way is the CX-3's impressive suspension setup that includes MacPherson Struts at the front and Torsion Beam at the rear. The crossover gets ventilated discs and solid discs at the front and rear end on the braking side of things.

Exterior and Interior features

The Mazda CX-5 is one attractive car that showcases the brand's signature KODO-Soul Motion design philosophy. The key elements on the outside are - LED headlights with signature illumination, LED DRLs, LED taillights, LED reverse light, rain-sensing wipers, Mazda advanced keyless entry, power-folding & adjustable ORVM with turn indicators, and a power sunroof.

Like the exterior, the cabin looked and felt premium. All the five seats are covered with Leatherette, with the driver's seat offering 10-way power adjustment and a 2-position memory function. The following features take care of the passengers' and driver's comfort and convenience: engine start/stop button, cruise control, heads-up display, single-zone air-conditioning system, 8-inch Capacitive touch-screen with voice recognition, and Bluetooth hands-free, two USB ports, and a 360-degree reverse monitor.

Safety profile

The car offers a strong safety profile with an array of active and passive gears like - SRS airbags (front, side, & curtain), ABS, EBD & BA, dynamic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist, auto-hold function, and walk away lock.

The CX-3 also benefits from advanced features like - high beam control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning system, driver attention alert, and smart city brake support.
