Check out the first official images of the 2022 Kia K9
KUALA LUMPUR: First introduced in 2018, Kia’s flagship sedan K9 gets a mid-cycle revision in the home market and as per the automaker, the new version is more ‘luxurious’ and ‘sophisticated’ than the predecessor. As of now, the company unveiled just two official images of the revamped sedan showcasing its exterior design while keeping the posh interior and other details under the wraps.
Upfront, the new K9 boasts a modern appeal with new highlights including a larger grille, new headlights with sharper graphics, and a lower wide bumper. At the back, we can spot the new tail light clusters which are connected by a horizontal illuminated bar. The rear bumper also looks different and now carries the license plate holder that was earlier placed on the trunk gate. Running on the new 19-inch multi-spoke wheels, the facelifted sedan also features Kia’s new logo.
As we mentioned earlier, Kia did not showcase the new K9 interior. But inline with the exterior’s premium update, we can anticipate some new interior features like plush seats, more refined touches, and an upgraded infotainment system.
Just like the interior, Kia did not drop any hint on the mechanical setup of the revamped K9. If it carries over the outgoing model’s options, the new sedan would be on offer with a variety of engines incorporating rear- as well as all-wheel-drive configurations. On top of the range, there would be a 5.0-litre V8 engine kicking out a maximum power output of 419 hp.
During an interview with The Korean Car Blog, one of the company officials stated. “The new K9 is a significant model that shows the direction of Kia. Set to be released in the future, the new K9 will deliver a differentiated premium inspiring customers with a new styling as well as excellent product quality.”
Further details on the 2022 Kia K9 are expected to come up closer to the launch that may happen in the coming weeks.
